EAGLE — Eagle voters took a stand for stability and maturity in Tuesday’s election.

In fact, Mikel “Pappy” Kerst won a town board seat on his birthday Tuesday.

Incumbent Kevin Brubeck was the top vote-getter, and Town Board member Anne McKibbin is the new mayor, after serving one term on the Town Board and eight years on the planning and zoning board before that.

McKibbin’s transition to mayor should be seamless. She said she won’t necessarily be in charge; she’ll be the “facilitator.”

As happy as she is to be mayor, she said she’s happier that the river park sales tax passed.

“It’s going to be good for the town and we’re thrilled it passed,” McKibbin said.

The current Town Board created upheaval when it parted ways with the town manager and sparked other controversies that packed its meeting room with furious voters.

Brubeck, a financial planner with Edwards Jones in Eagle, was a calm voice amid the storm. Eagle voters seemed to appreciate it. He received 1,207 votes, the top candidate.

“I’m excited for the strong support for myself and for the river park, and for the future of our community,” Brubeck said.

Kerst said he was happy to be part of the council that’s moving Eagle boldly into its future. Kerst was on the Town Board for 10 years previously, before winning election again Tuesday.

Paul Witt has already served four years on the Eagle town board, and won a seat again on Tuesday.

“I’m thrilled so many people came out to vote, and I’m happy to be able to serve the community,” Witt said.

Local businessman Matt Solomon owns Alpine Arms and won a seat on the board.
