What: Hands-on science club for kids in grades 3-5

What: Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade can enjoy various activities which may include the anti-gravity center, gymnastics, rock climbing, video games, sports and more.

Where: Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District Field House at Edwards

Details: Cost is $20 and includes pizza, drink and supervision.

Haunted Barn

What: Haunted house fund-raiser for the Eagle Valley Middle School football team

Wednesday, Oct. 30

5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Brush Creek Park main barn

Details: Cost is $4 per person.

Trick or Treat Street

What: Trick or treating at local businesses

When: Wednesday, Oct. 30

Time: 5 to 7 p.m.

Where: Eagle Ranch Village

Details: Treats and a flash mob performance of “Thriller.”

Ghost Stories

What: Classic scary tales for all ages (with parental guidance suggested)

When: Wednesday, Oct. 30

Time: 7 p.m.

Where: Eagle Public Library

Details: Kid can bring a blanket or favorite stuffed animal to snuggle.

Storm Spotter and Weather Safety Training

What: Free session hosted by the National Weather Service office in Grand Junction

When: Tuesday, Oct. 29

Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Where: Eagle County Building, 500 Broadway

Details: No RSVP or registration is required and participants can simply show up to participate in the training. For more information about storm spotting and weather safety, go to the National Weather Service website at www.weather.gov/gjt.

Local Author Event

What: Presentation and book signing by local author Kathy Heicher

When: Thursday, Nov. 7

Time: 6 p.m.

Where: Eagle Public Library

Details: Heicher will share stories from her book “Eagle County Characters: Historic Tales of a Colorado Mountain Valley.” Books will be available for purchase.

Holiday Bazaar

What: Christmas crafts and the Eagle Community United Methodist Church Women’s famed chicken noodle soup

When: Saturday, Nov. 16

Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Brush Creek Pavilion

Movie and discussion

What: Free showing of “Spanglish” for adults with discussion to follow.

When: Sunday, Nov. 17

Time: 1 p.m.

Where: Eagle Public Library

Details: Discussion led by Jay Wallace and refreshments are planned.

Sew a Stocking

What: Opportunity to sew a stocking for a local teen in need in preparation for the holiday season.

When: Tuesday, Nov. 19

Time: 3 to 5 p.m.

Where: Gypsum Public Library

Details: Stockings will be decorated by teens, filled with items for teens in need and delivered to the Salvation Army in time for the holidays. Participants are asked to bring teen-friendly stocking stuffers for donation.

Winter Market and Holiday Fair

What: The popular downvalley Christmas fair returns

When: Friday, Nov. 22 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Eagle River Center at the Eagle County Fairgrounds

Details: Pet pictures with Santa, holiday music and children’s activities round out a day of shopping for unique gifts for the entire family. Admission is free.

Art Display

What: Soliciting local artists interested in displaying their work

Where: Gypsum Public Library
