Turkey Trot

What: The third annual Brush Creek Elementary School Turkey Trot to benefit the fourth-grade field trip to 100 Elk Camp

When: Thanksgiving Day — Thursday, Nov. 28.

Time: 9 a.m. start

Where: Brush Creek Elementary

Details: The run will conclude with an after-party at The Dusty Boot. The party will include a silent auction, raffle and costume contest. A one-mile fun run and a 5K run are planned as part of the event. Preregistration forms are available at BCES. Cost is $15 for individuals, $35 for a family of four and $10 for each additional person. Participants also can register at the run, with race day prices of $20 for individuals and $40 for a family of four.

Battle for the Bird

What: Three-on-three hockey tournament with divisions for Squirt (ages 9-10), Pee-Wee (ages 11-12) and Bantam (ages 13-14) players

When: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 & 30

Time: Play begins at 8 a.m. and will be determined by the number of teams that participate

Ice Princess Party

What: Ice skating party for girls ages 5 and older

When: Sunday, Dec. 1

Time: 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Where: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink

Details: Dress up as a princess and skate and twirl on ice to princess music and lights with friends. Enjoy magical snacks and make a special tree ornament to take home. Cost is $12 and includes skate rental. Call 970-328-5277 for additional information.

Baking at Altitude

What: Colorado State University Extension Agent Glenda Wentworth will present solutions to cooking and baking at high altitudes.

When: Tuesday, Dec. 3

Time: 6 p.m.

Where: Avon Public Library

Details: The program is free and open to the public. Participants can sample some homemade baked goods.

Wacky Wednesday Family Art

What: Literacy-based arts and crafts for children and parents

When: Wednesday, Dec. 4

Time: 4 p.m.

Where: Gypsum Public Library

Details: The featured book is “Snowmen at Night” by Caralyn Buehner.

Tots Story and Skate

What: Skating theme events for tots in conjunction with the book read at local library story hours

When: Thursdays through Dec. 19

Time: 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

Where: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink

Explorers Club

What: Hands on science club for kids in third through fifth grades

What: Craft sessions and photos with Santa followed by a tree lighting and carols

Christmas on Broadway

What: Downtown Eagle holiday celebration with nighttime parade

When: Saturday, Dec. 7

Time: Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.

Details: Activities will include shop decoration contest voting, homemade chicken noodle soup booth, live entertainment and a bonfire at Eagle Town Park.

AARP Driver Safety Classes

What: Driver safety instruction for people age 50 and older sponsored by the High Country RSVP

When: Thursday, Dec. 12

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Winter Extravaganza

What: Holiday ice skating party for all ages

When: Sunday, Dec. 15

Time: 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Where: Eagle Pool and Ice Rink

Details: Skate Club Vail will perform and costumed skaters will join participants on the ice. The whole family is welcome to free hot chocolate and everyone can decorate a sweet treat. Santa will be on hand for photos. Cost is $5 per person and all ages are welcome. Call 970-328-5277.

What: Viewing and discussion of “Cirque du Soleil’s Worlds Away”

When: Sunday, Dec. 15

Time: 1 p.m.
