Edwards’ Riverwalk announces holiday window-painting winners

VAIL, Colorado – Organizers of the first annual Riverwalk Old-Fashioned Christmas presented by KZYR have announced the winners of the Holiday Window Painting Contest. A panel of judges voted on 10 window designs on Riverwalk merchants’ windows in Edwards. The holiday murals will be up through the Riverwalk Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday, and the public is encouraged to vote on their favorite painting up to that day. People’s Choice Award ballots are available at The Bookworm.The holiday windows were judged on criteria that includes design, appearance, originality and clarity of theme. Each of the windows were designed and painted by local artists and prize money was awarded to the top four windows receiving the most judges’ votes.• First place: Old Forge Pizza painted by Ellen Edgerton and Monika Gehl.• Second place: Peak Dentistry painted by Dusty Noha.• Third place (tie): Last Course painted by Whitney Armistead.• Third place (tie): Fox Hot Tubs painted by Joseph Barrett.Additional windows and their artists are Belle & Brand (Marcy Tracy), eTown (Travis Divis), Local Joe’s (Caitlyn Wallace), Dogma Athletica (Valentina Virion), The Bookworm (Laura Sian Morris) and Valley Girl (Chandler Bettis). All 10 windows are eligible for the People’s Choice Award.The 2012 Riverwalk Old-Fashioned Christmas continue Friday with a visit from Santa Claus and the tree lighting.
