Elway’s in Vail to host Grgich Hills wine dinner on Friday
Ryan Summerlin April 2, 2013
On Friday, Elway’s restaurant, in conjunction with the Taste of Vail, presents a special evening of food and wine featuring Grgich Hills Winery. To celebrate Mike Grgich’s 90th birthday, his daughter Violet will be on hand to represent this iconic Napa Valley winery. Five courses of wine will be paired with courses created by Shawn Cubberley, executive chef of Elway’s Vail.
Grgich Hills Winery was built in 1977 and has been family owned for more than three decades. The winery recently celebrated its 35th year with the release of the 2008 vintage. Winemaker, Ivo Jeramaz, takes great care to follow in the footsteps of Mike Grgich to produce world class wines. During the Paris tastings of 1976, Mike struck gold when his chardonnay beat out the premier and the grand cru white burgundies from the best houses in France. His legacy stands today as a testament to hard work and an unfaltering commitment to making world class wines from Napa Valley.
Elway’s restaurant is located in the Lodge at Vail. The Colorado steakhouse specializes in prime beef, lamb, seafood, and regional cuisine.
Reservations can be made for the dinner by calling the restaurant at 970-754-7818, or by calling Sommelier Jim Lay at 970-390-9772. The cost is $120 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are limited.
