Freedom Park parking lot set to be closed through October

EDWARDS — The parking lot at Freedom Park in Edwards will be closed for maintenance and construction improvements until early October.
So if you’re headed to WECMRD’s Edwards Field House or the playing fields, just think of the stroll across the street as part of your warmup.
For the next few months, you’ll be parking across the street at Battle Mountain High School. You can still use the playground, skate park, field house, playing fields and other facilities, said Eva Wilson, Eagle County’s engineer.
Just take the pedestrian path to Freedom Park and you’ll be fine.
The $1.1 million project will be completed in two phases.
During Phase 1, the main parking lot will be rebuilt and paved.
Phase 2 will rebuild and pave the dog park parking lot and driveway.
The scope of work includes asphalt paving, installing concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters, landscaping and parking lot lights.
The $1.1 million price tag is being split between Eagle County’s Capital Improvement Project fund; the Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District, $366,000; and ECO Transit, $75,000.
