LAPORTE – At least 18 structures have been burned in the fast-moving High Park Fire, which has consumed at least thousands of acres and forced hundreds of people to evacuate from neighborhoods in Poudre, Rist, Redstone and Mill canyons.

Gov. John Hickenlooper said roughly one third of the heavy fire fighting equipment in the nation now is focused on fighting the blaze that has consumed as many as 12,000 acres northwest of Fort Collins.

“Everybody is on on deck,” Hickenlooper said. “This is the fire a lot of folks in Larimer County have always worried about. We are throwing everything at it that we can.”
