La Tour in Vail hosts ‘Cheese for Dummies’ book signing

AIL -La Tour Restaurant in Vail Village hosts Colorado-based cheese guru Laurel Miller on Saturday for a signing of her new book “Cheese for Dummies.” Miller will be at La Tour Restaurant during lunch on Saturday from 1:30 to 5 p.m. for a reading, a short Q&A and to sign copies of her book. Complimentary cheeses will be offered from Haystack Mountain, Avalanche Cheese Company and Fruition Farms during the signing.Available for sale at La Tour during the signing, “Cheese for Dummies” will turn any cheese lover into a true connoisseur. Miller is a columnist for Culture: the word on cheese and keeps her book current and fresh, with lots to offer whether you’re a chef, scholar or regular enthusiast. Miller included her secrets to assembling a beautiful cheese plate, guides on paring cheese with other foods or beverages, tips on how best to cook with different kinds of cheeses and even a how-to guide to making mozzerella, chevre and ricotta. The recent release of Miller’s book in April 2012 comes right the middle of a revitalized interest in the Colorado culinary scene, which is thriving in areas like Denver, Boulder and the ski towns of the Rockies. Scores of new restaurants with inspired chefs have been focusing on using local, fresh ingredients and creating a new demand for more Colorado farms and ranches.
