Laugh out loud in Eagle Saturday

EAGLE – Comedy Night at the Bowlmor returns to The Back Bowl in Eagle Saturday night at 8 p.m., with the return engagement of popular Comedy Works headliner, Deacon Gray.
After repeated accolades for previous shows, Gray returns to the Comedy Night series for his fifth appearance in as many years. Denver’s Westword magazine crowned him Denver’s “Best Comedy Guru” and, as one of the tops among the region’s stand-up artists, he now coordinates all comic acts for Denver’s top comedy club, The Comedy Works.
He absolutely floors his audience with his incredible delivery and somewhat weird musing on life and his improvisational style has been compared to “a runaway mind train…no two shows are ever alike!” His recently released album, Revival of the Fittest, Gray supports his reputation as an act that can appeal to both broader sensibilities as well as those more inclined towards dark, intellectual humor. He also proves that, ultimately, he needs to be seen and heard by more people.
According to owner and general manager Joe Gonzalez, Gray has developed quite a local following.
“Over the course of the years we’ve been doing live comedy, Deacon has consistently be one of the top acts we’ve seen,” he said. “This will be his fifth appearance with us in as many years.”
Gray’s well oiled delivery and presence have not gone unnoticed by the elite among his peers, earning him gigs as opener for some of the top acts in comedy, including: Chris Rock, Jeff Foxworthy, Drew Carey, Paula Poundstone, Craig Ferguson, Dave Chappelle and a host of others. Perhaps the best measure of his abilities is the respect he has garnered among his peers, many of whom refer to him as “the comic’s comic.”
Opening for Gray is Matt Baca. Making his first appearance at the Comedy Night series, Baca has been plying his craft for a number of years in Denver’s Comedy Works and the Improv. Taking plenty of hilarious material from his day job as a teacher, Baca’s comedic abilities have earned him invitations to comedy festivals and contests across the country, including National Lampoon’s Comedy Pop-Off, the Boston Comedy Festival and America’s Got Talent Latino Style.
Tickets are $15 on the day of the show. Groups can take advantage of special pricing for groups of 8 or more. Tickets can be purchased in person at The Back Bowl, or by phone with a credit card.
