Man dies after accident on Vail Mountain

VAIL – A 26-year-old Venezuelan man who hit a tree while snowboarding on Vail Mountain died Friday.Francisco Pauly-Brillembourg, whose parents own a ski home at Northwoods condominiums in Vail, was airlifted to a Denver hospital on Dec. 26 after he crashed on the slopes.Pauly-Brillembourg died of injuries sustained in the accident, a family friend said.He was the son of Henry and Maria Corina Pauly.Pauly-Brillembourg’s death was the third on Vail Mountain this season.Ashley Stamp, 13, a ski racer from Steamboat Springs, died on Dec. 19 after she collided with a snowmbile while warming up for a slalom race on Golden Peak. The body of 42-year old Michael Combs, who lived in the Los Angeles area, was found on Dec. 14 near the bottom of the Riva Ridge run after he had been missing for almost 20 hours.Combs had been skiing with his girlfriend, 32-year-old Allison Eastwood, the daughter of film legend Clint Eastwood. He split up with her for a last run.
