WOLCOTT, Colorado – A 75-year-old man died Monday after a crash on Highway 131 near Wolcott, police said.
At about 1 p.m., a silver 2004 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Bruce N. Kasson of Arvada was travelling northbound on Colorado Highway 131 at mile post 9, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
After Kasson lost control of his vehicle, it traveled across the southbound lane, rotating counter-clockwise before leaving the roadway, police said. The vehicle traveled up an embankment and struck a rock with the front of the vehicle, according to the State Patrol. This caused the vehicle to further rotate counter-clockwise and roll one-half time. The vehicle came to rest on its roof, facing east.
Kasson was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash, but was pronounced deceased due to the injuries he sustained during the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
