Man who fell 40 feet to death north of Colorado Springs ID’d

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Authorities have released the name of a man who died after falling 40 feet while hiking near Palmer Lake north of Colorado Springs.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/FUQU44 ) 37-year-old Zachary Collins, of Colorado Springs, was hiking with a friend when he fell off of a boulder Saturday night. Patrick Kerscher with El Paso County Search and Rescue says boulders in the area are the size of cars and small houses.

Collins died as he was being treated for his injuries.

His death is being considered an accident
