NY choreographer works with Vail Youth Ballet Company dancers

Parker Esse, internationally acclaimed choreographer, is working this week with the 23 dancers of the Vail Youth Ballet Company. The dancers took master classes with Esse two years ago in New York City while they were on their biennial New York City trip and loved his choreography and classes.
In July, Anne Powell, artistic director of the ballet company, approached Friends of the Dance and asked if the group would fund Esse’s trip to Vail and Edwards. She was interested in having Esse set a piece on the Company for the “Star Light, Star Bright” performances coming up Dec. 7 and 8 at the Vilar Center. The dancers will take classes from Esse and rehearse “Crunchy Granola” at Vail Valley Academy of Dance through Tuesday. Other students in lower levels at the Academy of Dance will be included in the experience and will take jazz classes from Esse.
