Vail Daily obituary: Rhonda Davis, 1951-2015

Rhonda Davis passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with rheumatoid arthritis.

She came here from Detroit in the early 1970s. After earning a degree in fine arts from Wayne State University, Rhonda attended the Summer Vail Art Workshop and decided to make the valley her home.

Skiing, hiking and biking were passions and her multitude of work experiences gave her the opportunity to meet and know so many longtime locals. Rhonda can be remembered for her fabric crafted hearts on Valentines Day, the baked goods she would bring to share at work, her artistic hand stamped greeting cards and, of course, her spunky nature.

Rhonda had a tenacious hold on life and her independence. With the help of her extraordinary neighbors, work associates, physicians and friends she was able to retain that independence until early this year when the debilitating disease took its final hold on her body but not her spirit.

Her last days were spent comfortably in the loving presence of her sister, cousins, friends and caregivers.
