Vail Daily obituary: Raymond Pankuch, 1945-2015

Ray Pankuch, beloved husband and best friend, has ended his earthly journey peacefully with his wife by his side. Saddened by Ray’s passing, he was coping with his illness for such a long time. He was truly amazing how he dealt with it all with such grace, dignity and unending humor. He truly lived the rest of his life as he wanted and never looked back. That took such courage.

Left to cherish his memory and spirit are his wife, Linda; sister Theresa; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Ray was born April 5, 1945, to William and Elna Pankuch in Yonkers, New York. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Elna.

Ray found his passion when relocating to Colorado in the ’80s. He built a treasured cabin in Fulford, where he spent endless hours in the mountains enjoying his many friends and sense of community. He loved Fulford. He always looked forward to grouse hunting season with his companion in crime, his beloved pup Aspen. He looked so forward to the company of his rifle hunting friends arriving in the fall, local and from out of state, to share the joys of the mountains.

Ray will be forever loved and deeply missed for his kind spirit, love of family and friends and the joys of all nature. His family will always have him within our hearts in our journey.
