Cuhatlique Cardenas, 23, of Edwards since 2008, passed away Thursday in Cordillera.
She was born Dec. 15, 1990, to John Rendon and Rosa Maria Cardenas Flores in Garden Grove, California.
Cuhatlique graduated from Battle Mountain High School in Edwards in 2009 and was currently studying culinary arts at Colorado Mountain College. She had received the Alpine Bank Latino/Hispanic Scholarship. She was a cook at the Family Learning Center and also worked at the Marble Slab and the Avon Academy Bank. Cuhatlique loved cooking and dancing and had a dream to one day own and operate her own restaurant in Colorado.
Cuhatlique is survived by her mother, Rosa Maria Cardenas Flores, father John Rendon, and brother Leopoldo Marcial, all of Edwards; brother Quetzalcohatl Cardenas and sister-in-law Brenda Saucedo, of Avon; sister Karla Estrada, of Miami; and niece Cataleya Marcial-Greason, of Minturn. She is preceded in death by her great-grandmother Luisa Hernandez, of Michoacan, Mexico.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. today at St. Patrick Parish Church in Minturn, with a rosary service to follow at 6 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Parish Church, with Rev. Father Jim Baird as celebrant. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Minturn.
