Obituary: Joan Solon
Ryan Summerlin October 29, 2013
We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of Joan Solon.
Her Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Nov. 2 at the Interfaith Chapel in Edwards at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Join us in remembering this remarkable woman!
Solon was surrounded with her family when she passed peacefully on Oct. 22. She and her husband, Bob, have been part of the Vail Valley community for more than 20 years and have lived in Cordillera for the past eight of those. As a warm and welcoming neighbor, she was loved by so many who came to know her.
Solon was actively involved with her passion, Canine Companions, an organization that raises and train service dogs for those with disabilities. She had previously been a President of the Women’s Alliance for City Meals on Wheels in New York City, which provided meals to home-bound elderly in New York City. Her many charitable efforts were just part of a personality that thrived on welcoming people in and enriching others’ lives.
The Solon family wishes to invite all of their friends to a memorial service for this beloved mother, grandmother and wife.
Please help her family celebrate this rare and special individual whose love and joy of life and family touched so many in, and beyond, our community.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to Canine Companions (www.cci.org) or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundations at www.mmrf.org.
