On the Hill: Today’s ski report with video
Ryan Summerlin November 18, 2012
Vail official report: 0″ as of 5 a.m.
Vail Daily field report: 1″ at 9 a.m. with more continuing to fall.
Line at Chair 8: The snowflakes brought a bigger crowd in today, with 100 or so people gathered by 8:50 a.m. By 9:30 it had grown to 100 with an eight- to 10-minute wait to load.
Weather: Cloudy and lightly snowing with no wind.
Breakdown: Ski conditions are improving with every flake of snow that drops. With an inch yesterday and another this morning, the brown spots are filling in nicely. Born Free still the only run to enjoy, but look for more to open if the snow continues to drop. The scuttlebutt among the local morning crowd is Columbine will be the next run to open. Nothing from the lifties to back that up, though. But it’s not just locals out there, Jason Meade from Texas was out early, looking forward to his first turns of the season. “Can’t wait,” he said.
Snowcast: There’s a slight chance the snow will continue to fall into the evening, but nothing in the forecast after that.
