On the Hill: Hiking the Minturn Mile
Ryan Summerlin July 18, 2013
Today’s activity: The Minturn Mile, summer edition.
Conditions: The Minturn Mile sees thousands of skiers making the exciting journey from Vail Mountain to the small town of Minturn every winter, but many of those skiers don’t realize it’s also a fun route to enjoy in the summer. Open to hikers, bikers and horseback riders, “The Mile,” otherwise known as the Game Creek Trail, is looking especially beautiful this year as good precipitation numbers from April until now have kept things lush.
Today’s weather: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. — National Weather Service
