Paragon Guides opens new test center in Edwards

EDWARDS, Colorado – Since 1978, Paragon Guides has been helping people “discover the other side of Vail,” guiding them into the winter and summer backcountry surrounding Vail. Help them celebrate their 35th year with the grand opening of their new shop in Edwards this coming Saturday from 3-7 p.m. They will be highlighting their guide service as well as their line of alpine touring gear at their new Dynafit Test Center.
Paragon Guides has been one of the premier guide services on the 10th Mountain Hut System as well as day ski tours throughout the Vail area since 1978. They have watched and been part of the transition of ski touring equipment from cross country to telemark to the growing popularity in alpine touring gear.
The current buzz in the backcountry ski world is the introduction of alpine touring gear. The attraction for some is the similarity of the gear to downhill skiing equipment, the difference and advantage being that the binding can be released for uphill touring, then set in downhill mode for descents. Their rental program features a number of equipment options.
Dynafit, a well known ski company in Europe, is establishing itself in the rapidly growing U.S. backcountry ski market with a full line of alpine touring skis, bindings, boots and climbing skins. Known for lightweight products, Dynafit covers the entire range of ski touring possibilities with models for backcountry, ski mountaineering and rando racing.
Their new shop will also feature their rental line of telemark touring gear for those wanting to free their spirit and enjoy cross-country touring and the telemark turn. Their gear is lightweight and very suitable for day tours and hut trips.
Join them on Saturday for some fun, some good backcountry conversation, appetizers and drinks.
Paragon Guides Headquarters is in the Edwards Commercial Park, 210 Edwards Village Blvd., Suite B107, in Edwards. Their phone number is 970-926-5299.
