Pedestrian killed in Vail

VAIL, Colorado – A man was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck by a van in Vail.

The Eagle County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as Zachary Zolin, 24. Zolin had been living with a relative in West Vail at the time of the accident. The cause and manner of his death will be determined following an autopsy.- —

Officers were dispatched to the scene of the accident on South Frontage Road West near the Intermountain neighborhood at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers found Zolin unresponsive along the side of the road. He was transported to Vail Valley Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

According to police investigators, Zolin appeared to be walking in the roadway when he was struck by a 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and contacted 911. Police are continuing to investigate.
