EAGLE COUNTY — Radio station KZYR — 97.7 FM — is holding a Radio-a-Thon today from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund.
Vail Resorts employees participating in the company’s Echo community service project are joining representatives from the Vail Valley Charitable Fund to take over the airwaves of KZYR and raise funds for the charitable fund, which helps local residents who face large medical bills due to illness or accident.
Vail Resorts Echo has provided a variety of product donations to auction off on-air throughout the day, including on-mountain summer adventures, spa treatments and dinners at Zach’s, Beano’s, Game Creek and The 10th. Other auction items include rounds of golf, 2014-15 Epic Passes and lift tickets.
The Vail Valley Charitable Fund is one of 54 Eagle County nonprofit partners that Echo supports both financially and with volunteer time. For more information, visit www.vailresortsecho.com.
The Vail Valley Charitable Fund was created in 1996 to provide assistance to individuals who live and work in Eagle County. The fund offers one-time grants of up to $5,000 to qualified participants. The charity has grown significantly during the past 17 years, having raised and distributed $6 million to approximately 1,300 families in the community.
The Charitable Fund also provides dental services to uninsured children through Eagle County Smiles, which serves approximately 200 kids annually.
Eagle County Smiles works with local schools and community health providers to identify children in need, matching them with one of 21 area dentists for treatment.
