Real estate transactions stable in February

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – The number of area estate transactions through the first two months of the year are virtually the same as the same period in 2012. The difference is in dollar volume.
The latest information from Land Title Guarantee Company shows there were 181 real estate sales in Eagle County in January and February of last year. There were 180 sales in the same period this year. But dollar volume – the value of those sales – is down so far this year. Sales totaled nearly $197 million in the first two months of 2012, but just more than $156 million this year, a 21 percent decline.
Still, there’s more good news in the report, including:
• There were fewer bank sales in February (11) than January (21).
• The most expensive single sale was $13.5 million for a unit in Vail Village.
• In all, there were four sales of more than $5 million in the county in February, and 13 sales of $2 million or more.
• Eagle County residents accounted for 51 percent of all real estate sales in the county in February. Out-of-state buyers made up the next-biggest group, with 28 sales, or 34 percent of the total.
