Eight busted for dealing drugs across from Glenwood High School

GLENWOOD SPRINGS — The Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team (TRIDENT) arrested eight people over the past two weeks on charges of possessing and selling cocaine, MDMA (also known as “ecstasy” or “Molly”), as well as LSD and 2C-I (also known as “Smiles”), both hallucinogenics.

Arrested were Eric Kneipper, 21, Marc Merchant, 29, Christopher Pacchioli-Dardynski, 19, Bradley Rice, 22, Katelin Wirth, 19, all of Glenwood Springs; and Joshua Tello, 39, of New Castle, Jesse Tello, 39, of Rifle, and Mike Casto, 51, of Rifle.

The arrests arose from an investigation by TRIDENT agents, who allegedly purchased MDMA and Smiles on Jan. 9 at a home across the street from Glenwood Springs High School.

As the investigation continued, agents allegedly added cocaine and LSD to their list of purchases, leading to eight warrants for the arrests of those allegedly involved.

The charges are all felonies, carrying sentences of up to 24 years in prison, and fines of up to $750,000.

According to a statement issued by TRIDENT on Friday, the suspects arrested “are considered to have significant involvement in the drug trade within Garfield County and our local communities.”

TRIDENT is a multijurisdictional task force funded through a combination of local, state and federal sources.
