Revolution in Eagle-Vail hosts kids yoga series

EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado – Beginning today, Revolution Power Yoga is hosting a kids’ yoga series for ages 3 to 5 and ages 8 to 11. Each series runs for five weeks, with sessions held conveniently during adult yoga class times.
It’s never too early to begin a life-long practice, and now is the perfect time to get local youth involved with Revolution Power Yoga’s upcoming 5-week Kids’ Yoga Series. Classes will be offered during adult class times, making it easy for parents to come and enjoy their own personal practice. The series is open to two age groups: 3 to 5 and 8 to 11.
Julie Kiddoo, certified yoga teacher and co-owner of Revolution Power Yoga, said the series is a great way for kids to engage in active learning and to become more aware of their growing bodies.
Yoga Bears: Ages 3 to 5
Yoga Bears will be taught by Taralyn Walters, certified kids yoga teacher and owner/operator of The Bear’s Den Home Childcare. Kiddoo said the series will help kids to move their energy through active creativity.
“This class is designed to stimulate a young child’s growing curiosity,” she said. “Sprinkled with music, crafts, picture books, puppets and other age-appropriate props, we’ll spark every child’s inner yogi while enhancing language development, motor coordination and play skills.”
Classes are limited to 10 kids, and children will be encouraged to follow simple instruction and engage in participation.
“You are never too young to experience yoga,” Walters said. “I’ll offer some really fun breathing techniques that will have the kids laughing, yet learning how to better channel their energy and more.”
Empowering Kids Through Yoga: Ages 8 to 11
Certified kids yoga teacher Amy Archer will be leading Empowering Kids Through Yoga, and she said a yoga practice is one of the best things to introduce to youth.
“Exposing your kids to yoga may be one of the greatest gifts you can ever give them,” said Archer. ” I will teach them tools that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives.”
Each class will consist of 40 minutes of yoga, followed by 20 minutes of group discussion, group activities and journaling. Kiddoo said some of the topics will include: “Managing Stressful Situations,” “Being Compassionate,” “Trusting Yourself and Others,” and “Making the Right Choices.”
Journals will be provided and mats are available for class-time use. Kiddoo recommends participants wear comfortable clothes and that they bring a water bottle and a snack to eat before the beginning of each class.
