VAIL – Vail’s third annual Run, Ride, Refresh event is set to kick-off at 2 p.m. Saturday. The returning event offers the rare opportunity to join a free guided mountain bike ride or trail run on Vail Mountain, led by experts in the field. Mountain bike riders and trail runners will experience stunning views of Vail in the Fall while they venture out on a 4.7 mile loop, beginning at the base of the Gondola and traveling across Vail Mountain’s signature trails, climbing a total of 1,200 vertical feet along the way. Both groups will finish back at the base of the Gondola where they can then celebrate their accomplishment with a little relaxation on the Vail Chophouse Slopeside deck. The Chophouse post-ride event will provide participants with the chance to sit down with both experts, Bicycling Magazine’s gear editor Matt Phillips and the U.S. Women’s Mountain Running Team coach and manager Ellen Miller, to discuss tips and the new trends and technologies breaking out in each sport. Additionally, participants in the run and ride will receive a complimentary Michelob Ultra. The Chophouse post-ride event is open to the public and will feature a variety of specials on appetizers, lunch entrees and drinks for all to enjoy while listening to the two experts.Additionally, all in attendance will receive a Run, Ride, Refresh goodie bag from Runner’s World and Bicycling magazines, including a logoed Park Tool multi-function bike tool and a Clean Bottle Water Bottle. The group run and ride, co-sponsored by Runner’s World, Bicycling, Vail Restaurant Month, Vail Chophouse and the Vail Recreation District, will meet at 2 p.m. in front of the Vail Chophouse, at the base of the Gondola in Lionshead, with the post-ride event taking place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Vail Chophouse. The event run has already filled at this time; however, the ride still has limited space available. Contact Ruthie Carlson at ruthie@group970.com or 970-845-7673 to sign up.
