MINTURN -Movies in the Park at Little Beach Park & Amphitheater in Minturn takes place every other Saturday until Aug. 18. Movies, popcorn and drinks are free and the event is open to the public. This season features a local singer/songwriter series before the movie. On Saturday longtime Minturn local, Jean Flaherty, will share her original tunes on stage starting at 7:30 p.m.”Jean is an active member of our community and when I learned that she had this talent I was pleasantly surprised,” said Jodi Jahrling, executive director of the Minturn Community Fund (MCF). “The MCF is thrilled to feature a Minturn musician that I’m sure only a few have had the pleasure to hear.”Flaherty has been laying down her tracks at Mintown Studios, in Minturn, but today’s performance will be her first public performance for a lot of those tunes, some inspired from books she’s read, like “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” dedicated to her dog, Josie May. The movie “Grease” (PG-13) will start right after the music.”Come a little early to chat with your Vail Valley neighbors. Bring a blanket, warm clothes, and your dinner. We’ll provide a free evening of entertainment under the stars,” Jahrling said. “We even pass out glow sticks and give away a door prize. We’re always excited to bring people out to share in this beautiful, small town park and amphitheater.”Founded in June 2002, the Minturn Community Fund (MCF) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide diverse cultural, educational, entertainment and community building events in Minturn and provide financial assistance to projects initiated by local Minturn organizations or citizen groups that benefit the Minturn community and its citizens.
