Sonnenalp hosts champagne tasting event Friday in Vail

VAIL –There is nothing like the pop of a cork and a rush of bubbles from a bottle of Champagne to set the mood, even if the light-headed feeling experienced is from the wine, not the date.
However, choosing the perfect bottle of bubbly can be intimidating. Is every sparkling wine a Champagne? What is the difference between a Brut and a rose? Sonnenalp Resort of Vail is offering a special opportunity to create champagne connoisseurs out of guests on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the King’s Club library.
Led by Sonnenalp’s head sommelier, Jarrett Quint, and Chandon’s senior wine ambassador, Ellen Flora, the “Deconstructing Champagne” event will send guests on an exploration of the various elements of premium Californian method champenoise sparkling wine. More than just simply a tasting event, the evening will also feature light appetizers by Chef Steve Topple of Ludwig’s, accentuating the characteristics of each paired wine.
