Special advertising deal available to Vail merchants
Ryan Summerlin April 3, 2007
Spring is coming, and although this change signals the end of winter and the beginning of that beautiful spring weather we all wait for, businesses may feel an impending sense of anxiety with the end of the high season. With improvements taking place throughout town and a sharp drop in visitors, spring is typically a challenging season for merchants in Vail. However, once again this year, the Vail Chamber & Business Association and the town of Vail are ready to help the businesses that stay open during this time. For the fourth year, the town and the chamber are offering merchants the opportunity to advertise their businesses in the Vail Daily at a discounted rate. For those businesses who advertise again this year, we look forward to working with you, and for the merchants new to the program, this is a great opportunity for you to get the word out about your business. Historically, this has been a successful campaign that has been well-received by participating merchants, guests and residents alike. Again this year, participating merchants will be part of a full-page, full-color ad in the Vail Daily that will run three times a week for seven weeks. In the past, advertisers have included their business name, contact information, hours of operation and any special deals they have. The content of the advertisement will be your choice, and it can be changed as your circumstances change. Single and double slots are available, but there is only room for 20 businesses at the most, so its a great idea to reserve your space early. Why participate in this campaign? It is important during the spring season for your business to receive as much exposure as possible. If your store or restaurant is staying open, anything you can do to attract customers will bring you much-needed spring business and make that transition from winter to summer a bit easier. Additionally, your participation in the program signals that you are open to visitors who are in town during that time, as well as year-round residents. The town of Vail is underwriting this campaign through a donation of $5,000. The rest of the programs cost will be divided equally among the advertisers. The Vail Chamber & Business Association will act as the coordinator, and any questions should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or 477-0075. The chamber looks forward to working with you and your business in the upcoming months.Your involvement in this campaign also heralds the beginning of the townwide shopping spree, which is a substantial effort by the town to mitigate merchants worries about customer traffic during the spring season. The shopping spree promotes shops and restaurants that are staying open, and provides incentives for Vail employees and visitors to participate in what has also been a popular program. Each week, customers visiting participating businesses will have the opportunity to register for a drawing that includes $500 to spend at your favorite shops and restaurants in Vail. Six winners will be picked and announced June 27. Winners will be contacted by the town of Vail and will also be posted on www.vailgov.com. If you are interested in participating in the shopping spree, call Suzanne Silverthorn at 479-2115 or e-mail email@example.com. She will add you to the list of merchants that receive a supply of forms to be used for the program.
