Lacrosse squads record wins
GYPSUM — And now for the halftime pep talk via FaceTime.
Eagle Valley girls lacrosse trailed Durango by three goals on Friday, and then Kailyn Forsberg was on the iPhone.
“She had a little chat with them,” Devils coach Stephanie Renzelman said.
And the Devils responded, going on to beat the Demons, 17-10.
Sarah Cooper ended up with six scores, Lindsay Martinez four and Haley Carpenter three. Abby Jewett, Becy Glutova and Katie Laidman also found the net.

VMS downs the Indians
Road-trip time for those wild and crazy Gore Rangers.
Vail Mountain School lacrosse is making the most of its belated spring voyaging, logging a 12-6 win at Montrose. Today, the Gore Rangers are off to Telluride.
In the meantime, they’re happy to have Tyler Hancock back because he’s their faceoff guy. All Hancock did was go 12-for-14.
“The boys were very sluggish off the bus,” VMS coach Matt Felser said. “In the second quarter, we bounced back. Tyler was huge, creating fast break opportunities and easy goals.”
Luke Verratti had four, Nick Whiteford, three and Dylan Hanrdenberg two. Trevor Shelden and Hancock found the back of the net and Reed McInerny had his first varsity goal.
