Huskies fall at Clear Creek
December 8, 2012
IDAHO SPRINGS – It’s time for conference play – yes, the Huskies have already played Summit – for Battle Mountain basketball.
The Huskies hit the heavy stretch of the Slope start at Palisade Thursday, and they are coming off some tough losses Saturday night to Clear Creek.
The ladies fell to the Golddiggers, 52-32. The good news on this front is that the Huskies got off to a good start, a problem they’ve been battling so far in 2012.
Elizabeth Olivas had 15 points, while Taylor Davidson dropped 12.
“Hopefully, we’ve learned our lessons in nonleague play,” Huskies coach Vinny Cisneros said. “The girls are more confident and understand that getting better is all about practice.”
After winning their first five, the Huskies boys did not put their best foot forward and fell to Clear Creek, 56-44. The Huskies’ post players were in foul trouble early and the Golddiggers knocked down everything from the line.
Alex Banegas had 13, while Joe LyBarger had eight.
“I told the kids that we needed to focus and be ready to play every game,” Huskies coach Tom Padilla said. “That was a big wake-up call.”
