VMS lax doubles up Summit
FARMER’S KORNER — Being a strong fourth-quarter team is good, but Vail Mountain School lacrosse took that to the extreme on Friday.
The Gore Rangers were tied at nine with Summit County before outscoring the host Tigers 9-0 in the final 12 minutes for an 18-9 win.
“I think we came out a bit flat,” VMS coach Bobby Ecker said. “We were a little tired. It was a weird game, but, once, we figured it out, we were dominant.”
Three games in four days will do that. But, when in doubt, just let Tyler Hancock do his thing. The senior had four goals in the fourth quarter as VMS moved to 4-0 in the Western Conference and 6-1 overall.
Next up for the Gore Rangers is a visit from Glenwood on Thursday.

Devils pound Clear Creek
Eagle Valley boys lacrosse moved above .500 on Friday afternoon with a 15-2 thrashing of Clear Creek.
Zach Booth, Connor Wilson and Philip Petersen had four goals each. Finn and Bergen Blomquist and Keaton Fedrizzi also scored. Fedrizzi, in fairness, was busy passing with four assists. Booth finished with six helpers.
“The first third of the season has been great,” Devils coach Boomer Devlin said. “We’ve pretty much checked every box. We’ve got some minor dings, but we’re looking good, but we’re heading into the meat of our schedule.”
That starts on Tuesday with a trip to Battle Mountain.
