EAGLE, Colorado – Eagle hasn’t yet hired a new town manager, but Tuesday night the chairman of the search committee announced that the town has entered into negotiations with Jon Stavney regarding the position.
Search committee chairman Joe Knabel made the announcement Tuesday night, prior to a town board executive session to receive legal advice regarding the town manager contract.
Fourteen days ago, the town board announced the names of the three finalists for the town manager opening – Stavney, current Eagle County commissioner and former Eagle Mayor; Tom Gosiorowski, current Eagle town engineer; and Ryan Mahoney, current town manager in Dolores. State statute requires that a minimum 14-day period elapses between a finalists announcement and a town manager selection.
While Tuesday’s announcement signals that Stavney is the town’s top choice among the finalists, it doesn’t signal his actual hiring. The actual town manager hiring announcement will come after the search committee completes its due diligence and a contract is finalized.
