The Mountain Valley Horse Rescue’s second annual Rescue Rendezvous is almost here! Mark your calendars, saddle your horses, hitch the team and head on over for a weekend of classes, clinics and demonstrations to bring the community together around horses in need! Rescue horses of all shapes and sizes will participate in the demos in hopes of finding adoptive homes!
Great food by Old Kentucky Tavern and great goodies by all of our vendors will be available on site! Shop for tack, clothing, gear, information and horses all under one warm, dry roof! Sydney Idzikowski, a resident of Edwards and a junior at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, N.C., has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester. In order to qualify, Idzikowski had to earn at least a 3.75 grade-point average and be enrolled full-time with no grades of incomplete. A 2011 graduate of Battle Mountain High School, Idzikowski is the daughter of Doreen Somers and Jan Idzikowski of Edwards.
Only a few league spots left! The Vail Recreation District has been accepting registration for its adult summer softball leagues since Wednesday on a first-come, first-served basis. There are only a few spots left in each league, which run nightly Monday through Thursday starting May 28. Team fees are $525 for VRD taxpayers and $575 for non-VRD taxpayers, plus a $20 forfeit deposit, due at time of registration. Games will be played at the Ford Park softball fields. Players must be 18 years or older and teams must have a minimum of 8 players to play. Leagues consist of a regular season followed by playoffs.
