Birthday Boy

Get paid to explore Colorado’s natural wonders and collect data for the U.S. Forest Service while earning college credit! Each summer, Walking Mountains Science Center hires 12 local high school students to participate in a unique field-research internship. The internship is 8 weeks long and exposes students to field data collection methods and gives them an opportunity to collect scientific data that will be used to make immediate land-management decisions on the White River National Forest. The interns also participate in several “challenge hikes” up some of Eagle County’s tallest peaks and the summer culminates with a three-day hut trip. Interns earn Environmental Science credit from Colorado Mountain College and a bi-weekly stipend. Call for application information, call Pete Wadden at 970-827-9725 ext. 112.
