Avon pizza shop robbed at gunpoint on Saturday

AVON — Avon police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Domino’s Pizza early Saturday morning.

A man held two employees at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of cash, said Lt. Greg Daly with the Avon Police Department.

Dispatch received the call at 1:49 a.m. and police were on scene two minutes later, but the suspect had escaped, Daly said. The employees were not hurt, Daly added.

Daly declined to give more information about the crime or the suspect, citing the active investigation.

“We have a couple of lines of inquiry and are working the case,” Daly said.

This type of crime is rare in Avon. Daly said the last armed robbery in the town occurred four years ago.

Anyone with information about this crime should contact the Avon Police Department at 970-748-4040.
