VAIL – Need to make room for that extra helping of turkey or pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving? Then lace up the running shoes and head for the Eagle-Vail pool Thursday morning as The Youth Foundation hosts its sixth annual “Turkey Trot,” a dog and costume-friendly 5K family fun run and walk through Eagle-Vail.
Scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start, registration is currently underway and priced at $10. To register, contact Katie Santambrogio at 970-748-5987 or visit www.theyouthfoundation.org. Procrastinators can also register the day of the run, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will benefit The Youth Foundation’s PwrHrs program and the Eric Spry Memorial Scholarship Fund. All participants that make an additional contribution of $10 or more will be registered for a chance to win a Vail Resorts 2012-13 Epic Pass
“The Turkey Trot is the perfect way to kick off your Thanksgiving festivities,” said Susie Davis, vice president of education for the Vail Valley Foundation. “Not only does it benefit two great causes, but it’s a ton of fun. People will be in costume and it’s a great way to get the dog some exercise as well.”
The Youth Foundation’s PwrHrs programs is a comprehensive after school program that provides academic, fitness and nutrition, and cultural enrichment to children who might not otherwise have access to such programming.
