Vai Valley Voices: 50+ Ski With Us
Ryan Summerlin December 23, 2012
Are you young at heart and looking for a group of like minded people who want to ski and explore Vail Mountain? Are you a good skier here for a ski holiday and looking for someone to ski with?
Are you here for an extended time and want the camaraderie of skiing once a week with a group you can get to know? Do you want to learn your way around the epic terrain of Vail’s 5,289 acres?
This might just be what you’re looking for. Each Monday from now till the end of the ski season, Vail Resorts makes available four volunteer Community Guest Service personnel to show skiers and riders 50 years of age or older a day long complimentary tour of Vail Mountain.
The tour includes time for a lunch stop, usually at Two Elk, where all four tours generally meet so that people who need to reconnect from the different tours have a chance to do so.
The 50+ Ski With Us tour group meets at the area east of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in the Gondola’s Pizza seating area at 9:15 and takes off for skiing at 9:30 each Monday.
Skiers who participate in this complimentary guided tour must be strong intermediates or above. The tour is divided into four groups, each with a guide, and the four groups ski to accommodate the skiers from advanced intermediate to expert.
If the Monday turns out to be a powder day, make sure you are comfortable skiing fresh snow, as much of the skiing is in the Back Bowls.
If this might appeal to you, then Mary Ann, Paul, Steve and Tom look forward to meeting you on Mondays and showing you some of the fun skiing that can be enjoyed on Vail Mountain. Let it snow!
