Vail celebrates 50 years of skiing Saturday

VAIL, Colorado – In honor of Vail Mountain’s 50th anniversary on Saturday, guests, locals and the entire Vail community are invited to join a free, public celebration to recognize the momentous occasion and honor the past, present and future generations of Vail.
The event is at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village at the base of Vail’s new gondola, One, Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
There will be remarks from special guests followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Vail Mountain. Guests include Gov. John Hickenlooper; Rob Katz, chairman and CEO of Vail Resorts; Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain; and Andy Daly, town of Vail mayor.
Following the public celebration guests can head over to Ford Park for the final Snow Daze concert from headlining act, Wilco beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.vail.com/50th.
