Vail Daily letter: Appreciated letter about bear shooting
Ryan Summerlin November 12, 2012
I truly enjoyed Danielle Walker’s letter concerning the bear shooting. Her opinion was objective, insightful, humorous and accurate. My family has also lived in this county for many decades, and we have never felt the need to blast away at the long line of wildlife that has crossed our lives and fencelines.
It is true that occasionally humans and wildlife collide, but rarely is it necessary to kill an animal in self-defense.
I do not know the young man who shot the bear or his family, but I’m sure he has some regrets and will think twice about this kind of action in the future.
But I want to commend Danielle on her thoughtful and objective opinion.
