Vail Daily letter: Appreciation for doctors
Ryan Summerlin March 29, 2013
“More than the application of science and technology, medicine is a special calling, and those who have chosen this vocation in order to serve their fellowman understand the tremendous responsibility it entails.” (President George Bush)
On behalf of Axis Sports Medicine, we would like to thank our local physicians today in celebration of National Doctor’s Day. This holiday was originally observed on March 30, 1933, to honor the service and dedication of practicing, retired, and deceased physicians.
Congress established National Doctor’s Day as a holiday in 1990 with the first holiday celebrated on March 30, 1991. The date of March 30 was chosen to commemorate the day Dr. Crawford W. Long administered the first ester anesthetic for surgery.
To all the practicing and retired physicians in the Vail Valley, Axis Sports Medicine thanks you for your personal sacrifice to the profession and your dedication to the health of our communities.
We consider ourselves fortunate to work alongside you every day. For all your sacrifice, hard work, and commitment, we celebrate you! Happy Doctor’s Day!
