Vail Daily letter: Irked at grooming change
Ryan Summerlin February 26, 2013
For the past dozen years we have skied Vail the last week in January and first two weeks in February. I have many pictures showing groomers in China Bowl around noon and on Simba even later. It was a joy to save my tired legs and to ski the west side of Simba at 3 p.m. on a newly groomed trail. I’m saddened by the new policy.
Certainty some good thinking could come up with a good solution for some daytime grooming. Maybe a pass confiscation for sking closer than 100 yards. Maybe some bullhorn saying keep away. Maybe a groomer cop on skis. Maybe a few wing men on snowmobiles. The typical big corporation executive black-and-white decision is unacceptable. Come on, management gurus. Start using your brains.
