Vail Daily obituary: Robert J. Jandreau, 1925-2012

Robert J. Jandreau, of Ellenton, Fla., died peacefully Nov. 18, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in St. Francis, Maine, on Oct. 5, 1925, to Felix and Philomen Jandreau, one of 11 children. He was educated in the St. Francis schools and enlisted in the 292nd Engineering Combat Battalion in 1944. He served during World War II in central Europe until his discharge in 1946.

On June 17, 1950, he married Aline Beaulieu in Soldier Pond, Maine. They moved to Limestone, Maine, where he was employed by the Corps of Engineers at Loring AFB. He worked at Loring from 1950 to 1980. During this time, Robert also owned and operated Bob’s Superette, after moving to Caribou, Maine. After his retirement, Robert and Aline began splitting their time between Florida and their camp on Cross Lake in Maine.

Robert was a communicant at the Holy Rosary Parish in Caribou, Maine, and also at St. Joseph’s Parish in Bradenton, Fla. He held the 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight. Robert was also a member of the VFW.



He is survived by his wife, Aline, of Ellenton; daughters, Janine Reeves, of Bethel, Vt., Michelle (Doug) Cahill, of Vail, and Denise (Rich) Cronin, of Wells, Maine. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Daniel Luttrell, of Burlington, Vt., and Calder, Lia and Elie Cahill of Vail; a sister, Annette Dumond, of Fort Kent, Maine, and a brother, Alphie Jandreau, of Summerfield, Fla. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and four sisters and his grandson, Matthew Reeves.

A military service will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Robert’s request was that any contributions in his memory be made to the Matthew Reeves Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of Mascoma Savings Bank, 55 Main St., Bethel, VT 05032, attention Kelly Hill.
