Ten years ago, two adorable and brilliant identical twin brothers, Scott and Sean Cross, brought a film festival to Vail. Together, with Megen Musegades (now Mrs. Sean Cross), and their fantastic moms; and a driven, and fiercely loyal band of merry film geeks, the Cross brothers created a major event and local tradition that ranks way up there on “what-we love-about living-here” list.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, as well as reunite with friends and meet the newbies, the Vail Film Festival held its opening night party Thursday at the Lodge of Vail after the film “Disconnect,” starring Jason Bateman and Alexander Skarsgard and directed by Henry Alex Rubin.

The enthusiastic, stylish mob gathered and expressed their appreciation.

“We look forward all winter to the opening of the best event in Vail,” said attendee Mark Gordon.

Eric Burgund told us his favorites are the shorts and the hospitality lounge.

Jason Cole said, ” I love the Friday Night Concert. This is really good for Vail.”

Ron Gruber said, ” We love traveling the world with Vail Film Fest documentaries.”

Some people come not only to screen the 40 films from across the globe, including features, shorts, documentaries, animated and student films at Four Seasons Resort Vail, which will serve as the host hotel, as well as at Cinebistro at Solaris and Vail Mountain School, but to also enjoy the social element of the festival.

“I’m here to see films and possibly meet my future wife,” said Jeff Galvanek.

Rob Steinke was blown away by the film “Disconnect.”

“After seeing this movie I am so happy to be here ‘connecting,'” he said. “In the 10 years we have attended, this is the best.”

Steinke’s animated side-kick, Greg Strahan, said, “I’m having more fun than a tornado in a trailer park!”
