Vail International Dance Fest tickets on sale Wednesday

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Vail International Dance Festival returns to town July 28 through Aug. 10, 2013 at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail and the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek. Tickets for the 2013 Vail International Dance Festival (VIDF) go on sale today at 11 a.m. (MST).

Under the leadership of Damian Woetzel, artistic director and former New York City Ballet principal dancer, the 2013 VIDF will host a total of 11 performances. Tickets are priced from $13 to $95 and are available online at http://www.vaildance.org or via phone at 888-920-ARTS (2787). Series and student pricing is also available through the Performance Plus and Center Stage Passes.

This year’s Festival will kick off July 28 with a 25th anniversary celebration performance, featuring a variety of artists including Vail native Jonathan Royse Windham from Gallim Dance, Charles “Lil Buck” Riley, Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild from New York City Ballet, International tango stars Analia Centurion and Gabriel Misse, Keigwin+Company, plus Pacific Northwest Ballet in George Balanchine’s “Serenade,” accompanied by a full orchestra.



Woetzel will host UpClose: Footwork, a 25th anniversary benefit performance, on July 31 at the Vilar Performing Arts Center. The program will showcase virtuoso footwork, celebrating amazing technical feats in dance styles ranging from Memphis jookin’ to ballet and Tango with Charles “Lil Buck” Riley, Gabriel Misse, Festival Artists-in-Residence Tiler Peck and Robert Fairchild, American Ballet Theatre’s Herman Cornejo, modern dance star Fang-Yi Sheu, and other festival artists.

VIP Tickets for the benefit event are $275 and include one premium UpClose ticket to the performance, plus an exclusive post-performance dinner party with festival dancers and artists in the private dining room at 8100 restaurant in Beaver Creek. Performance only tickets are also available for $75 and $95. Proceeds from UpClose: Footwork will benefit the Vail International Dance Festival.

The festival also brings back the highly anticipated International Evenings of Dance on Aug. 2 and 3 at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. A cast of the world’s greatest in dance will take the stage for two unique programs, with performances by Sergei Polunin (Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet), Charles “Lil Buck” Riley, Carla Körbes (Pacific Northwest Ballet), Isabella Boylston and Herman Cornejo (American Ballet Theatre), Tiler Peck, Lauren Lovette, Robert Fairchild, Daniel Ulbricht and Zachary Catazaro (New York City Ballet), Maria Kochetkova (San Francisco Ballet), among others.

Additional 2013 festival highlights are performances by Pacific Northwest Ballet on July 29 and July 30, Paul Taylor Dance Company on Aug. 8, the popular sampler evening Dance for $20.13 on Aug. 6, an evening of World Premieres on Aug. 5, and the made-for-Vail showcase Ballroom Spectacular on Aug. 9.

The Festival will close on Aug. 10 with the popular Dance TV program with live performances by celebrity dancers from “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and more.
