Vail Recreation District offers ski conditioning

VAIL – The Vail Recreation District is offering ongoing affordable opportunities to help ski and ride enthusiasts get ready physically for the upcoming winter season. Programs include TRX, yoga and cardio boxing at the Community Programming Room in Lionshead and open gym and trampoline classes at the Vail Gymnastics Center. Information is as follows:
TRX suspension training, 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Community Programming Room, Lionshead Welcome Center. TRX Suspension Training allows participants to use their own body as the resistance load to strengthen and tone with the core active at all times. Costs are $12 per drop-in, $100 for a 10 punch pass or $64 for an eight-week session. Space available on a first-come, first-served basis, and reservations are required. Gentle yoga, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Community Programming Room, Lionshead Welcome Center. Costs are $12 for drop-in, $100 for a 10-punch pass or $8 per class when you sign up for a session. Call 970-479-2292 for details.
Introduction to yoga, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Community Programming Room, Lionshead Welcome Center.
Introduction to Yoga works on the basics and foundations of yoga and will include breathing meditation, learning Asana poses, plus the history and philosophy of the practice. Costs are $12 for drop-in, $100 for a 10-punch pass or $8 per class when you sign up for a session. Call 970-479-2292 to register.
Cardio kickboxing, 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays, begins Nov. 6, Community Programming Room, Lionshead Welcome Center. Get fit for skiing and snowboarding and express your aggressive side in the non-contact cardio class that will have you sweating and using your entire body. Costs are $12 to drop-in, $100 for a 10-punch pass or $8 per class when you sign up for a session. Call 970-479-2292 for more information.
Open gym, 8 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Vail Gymnastics Center. Open gym offers athletes of all levels, ages 13 years and older, an opportunity to utilize the Gymnastics Center equipment including trampoline, tumbling mat, foam pit and more. Drop-in participants can customize their own ski conditioning workout routine utilizing the equipment in the gym. Costs are $10 per drop-in. Call 970-479-2287 for details.
Trampoline/tumbling classes, 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 5:15 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Vail Gymnastics Center. For younger athletes, the Vail Gymnastics Center’s trampoline/tumbling classes are the perfect opportunity for young skiers and snowboarders, ages six years and older, to perfect their tricks off the slope. Classes cost $45 per month and include instruction on basic trampoline safety and tricks. Call 970-479-2287 for more information.
