BEAVER CREEK – The Vilar Performing Arts Center announced four new shows to its summer lineup. Tickets for Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real (July 9), Arlo Guthrie (July 15), Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn (July 17), and Peter Frampton (July 23) are on sale today. Following the summer season kick-off with Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo on July 2, Lukas Nelson and his band Promise of the Real take the Vilar Center stage on July 9. The son of country pioneer Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson follows in his father’s footsteps with some serious guitar-playing chops and a unique blues and rock style of voice. Showcasing guitar playing that has been compared with that of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Nelson has opened for such acts as B.B. King, John Fogerty and Dave Matthews Band and has since made a serious name for himself and his band.On July 15, folk music icon Arlo Guthrie takes the stage. His most famous work is “Alice’s Restaurant,” a talking blues song based on a true incident of his Vietnam War draft. Among his many talents and accomplishments, Guthrie has completed about 30 records, a few motion pictures, a television series, a children’s book, a few recording and production companies and two nonprofit foundations. Among his other career highlights, Guthrie was made famous for his Top 40 hits “The City of New Orleans” and “Coming into Los Angeles,” which he sang at the legendary Woodstock music festival and which were both featured prominently in both the Woodstock movie and multi-platinum soundtrack album. Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn will take the stage on July 17. Rather than separate sets back to back, the two will take the stage together for a powerful set list that will include both their hits, as well as some of their other favorites such as, “Walking in Memphis,” “Passionate Kisses,” “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her” and more. “Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn, together as one act on our stage will be a special moment in the VPAC’s history, as we’re a part of a very short list of venues where this performance will occur,” said Kris Sabel, executive director for the Vilar Performing Arts Center. “We’ve hosted each of these artists separately in the past, and we’re thrilled to see what they’ll bring to us when they come together here in July.” And finally, closing out the month of July will be Peter Frampton on July 23.”July is going to be a huge month for us and we cannot wait to bring each and every one of these acts to Beaver Creek this summer,” Sabel said. “But we don’t intend to quit there. Stay tuned for more August and perhaps even September shows to be announced soon, joining Montgomery Gentry and Brian Regan’s comedy show. It’s going to be a great summer of concerts, comedy and dance.”Tickets for all four concerts will be on sale starting at 11 a.m. today and can be purchased online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-TIXS or in person at the Vilar Center Box Office in Beaver Creek.
