Wells Fargo Bank in Carbondale is robbed on Saturday afternoon

CARBONDALE, Colorado – At 4:16 p.m. on Saturday, the Garfield County Emergency Communications Center received a call that a bank robbery was in progress at Wells Fargo Bank in Carbondale, which is located at 1201 state Highway 133.
According to a Garfield County Sheriff’s Department news release, just minutes before the 4 p.m. Wells Fargo closing time, a man entered the bank and threatened five employees and one customer with a handgun. The suspect then forced the employees and the customer behind the counter and onto their knees and bound their hands behind their backs.
The suspect then left the bank in a vehicle stolen from an employee. The automobile has since been recovered.
Within minutes of the suspect leaving the bank, an employee was able to escape his bonds, exit the bank and have a family member, who was there to pick him up from work, call 911.
The Carbondale Police Department, Glenwood Springs Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are currently processing the scene and the recovered vehicle. This case remains active and under investigation at this time.
The suspect was described as white, approximately 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds. He wore dark sunglasses, a long-sleeve gray shirt, gray pants and black shoes. He may also have been wearing a long, straight, black wig and a fake mustache.
