Minturn town attorney Allen Christensen found dead at his home

EDWARDS — Allen Christensen, Minturn’s town attorney for more than 30 years, was found dead Monday at his Edwards home. He was 61.

Minturn Town Manager Jim White said Christensen didn’t attend the Oct. 16 town council meeting, and subsequent attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office was asked to go to Christensen’s home Monday on a “welfare check.” That’s when his body was found.

The Eagle County Coroner’s Office has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Minturn town officials Tuesday released the following statement:

“The Minturn mayor, Town Council, town manager and town staff would like to express their deep condolences to the family of Minturn Town Attorney Allen Christensen, who recently passed away. The town will greatly feel the loss of Allen’s presence, knowledge and persona at Town Hall and during Minturn Town Council meetings. Allen Christensen has been the Minturn town attorney for over 30 years. During that time, Allen was also an avid volunteer at events within the town of Minturn. He will be greatly missed.”

Christensen was also a busy private-practice attorney.

Obituary information and information about a memorial service for Christensen will be published as the Vail Daily receives it.
