VAIL — Vail ART Pass is a new program convening individuals with an interest in the visual arts sponsored by Art in Public Places. Members enjoyed a private tour of Vicki and Kent Logan’s world renowned contemporary art collection as the inaugural event for the program. Guests were personally greeted by Kent, followed by an introduction to the collection in their private Vail gallery space.

“It was incredibly generous of the Logan’s to open up their home to launch the Vail ART Pass. Guests were awestruck by the collection and museum setting in which it is exhibited. We are fortunate to have patrons of the arts like the Logans in our Vail community. They have not only co-sponsored Art in Public Places’ Winterfest exhibitions for the past three years, but their hospitality in sharing their collection with members of the Vail ART Pass is greatly appreciated,” said Molly Eppard, Art in Public Places coordinator.

“Another fabulous reason to live in Vail! The Vail ART Pass allowed members the opportunity to see a world class art collection up close, and to hear the behind the scenes stories, from the collector, as to how and why the particular work was acquired. It was a thrill to see it!” said Nancy Lassetter, Vail ART Pass member.

Members of the Vail ART Pass enjoy preferred access and discounted admission to specialized tours of exclusive private art collections, museums, exhibitions, artist studio visits, and much more within and outside of the Vail Valley. Members will also be invited to signature events and receptions sponsored by Art in Public Places throughout the year.

On July 23, join the Vail ART Pass for a full-day excursion to Carbondale where members will tour the recently opened Powers Art Center. With Mt. Sopris in the distance, the Powers Art Center is designed by Hiroshi Nanmori. It is dedicated in the memory of John G. Powers as a museum and study center for Jasper Johns limited edition works on paper.

Following lunch, the members will tour the studio of artist James Surls. The Texan-born American modernist artist moved to Colorado in the 1990s to relocate his studio on a ranch property in Carbondale. The renowned artist has works included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (New York, N.Y.), the Smithsonian American Art Museum (Washington, D.C.) and many other institutions.

Also this summer, members will enjoy a tour of the new Betty Ford Alpine Education Center and Gardens with Executive Director Nicola Ripley. They will also have the opportunity to meet Andréa Selby, artist-in-residence for the 2015 Vail International Dance Festival.

Visit http://www.artinvail.com to sign up for the annual $50 membership to receive preferential access to events. Events will have limited occupancy and are filled on a first come first served basis. If space is available, events will be open to the public for a fixed fee per event. Guests must be registered to attend events.
